Three day folklore festival begins

JAMMU, Feb 28: A three day folklore festival by Samooh Theatre, began today at K L Saigal Hall, Jammu.
Anjali Sharma,  Director Doordarshan Kendra , Jammu,  was  chief guest on the occasion while  D K Vaid ( Darshan Darshi ),  former Director School Education, prominent Dogri writer and columnist,  presided over the inaugural function.  Mohan Singh, prominent Theatre/ Culture activist  practitioner, scholar, poet  and writer presented key note address.
Today, two performances in Dogri and two in  Kashmiri  folk performing arts, including  Jagrana, Jataar, in Dogri and Bachnagma and Chakri in Kashmiri, were presented which left the audience spell bound . Besides the performances,  two papers on the regional folk performing arts, namely Jagrana and Haran were also read by  Shiv Dev Singh Susheel and Dr Rama Sharma. This was followed by a discussion.
Dr Kamal Sharma, president Samooh, presented vote of thanks.
The function was attended by the large number of young artists  from the theatre fraternity, cultural  activists, scholars  and the literary personalities of the various languages.
