TIC Billawar organizes symposium on ‘Drug Abuse’

KATHUA, Jan 1: Continuing with its endeavour to create awareness among the common masses especially the younger generation about social evils, Tehsil Information Centre Billawar organized a symposium on “Drug Abuse” at Government Higher Secondary School Billawar.
SDM Billawar, R S Charak was the chief guest on the occasion.
Principal of the School Yash Pal Gupta, School staff and large number of students were present on the occasion.
In all 15 students participated in the symposium and expressed their views on the topic. While speaking on the topic participants said that elders, parents and social support groups have to play the most important role in curbing drug menace and ensuring the social and economic rehabilitation of those affected by this menace.
While addressing the students, R S Charak thanked the efforts of Information Department for organizing the Symposium on such an important issue. He said proper awareness among the masses in general and youth in particular can help in addressing the issue. He asked the students to carry forward the message to their respective localities.
Neha Mahajan (12th class) secured 1st position in the symposium while second position was secured by Ashutosh Bharti (11th class) and Taruna Thakur (11th Class) secured 3rd position.
Later chief guest gave prizes to the meritorious students. Officials of Information Department were also present during the function.
