Tie-breaker win takes PDC ‘A’ to semis; JK Forest scripts resounding win

JAMMU, Feb 19: The formidable teams of PDC and J&K Forest registered resounding victories to advance in the ongoing 4th Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup Football Tournament, being organized by Congress leader and Member State Sports Council, Narinder Gupta, here.
Earlier, in the first match played today, PDC ‘A’ defeated JK SRTC by four goals to two (4-2) via tie breaker.
The match ended with a goalless draw in the stipulated time and was decided via tie-breaker, wherein PDC ‘A’ registered a convincing (4-2) victory. Vishal Kumar, Demenenge, Gulzar Ahmed and Davian David scored goals for PDC ‘A’, while Shabir Ahmed and Harmanjeet Singh succeeded in scoring goals for JK SRTC. Varun Sharma and Aatif Parvez failed to strike. This win helped PDC ‘A’ to enter the semifinals and will take on J&K Bank at 3 pm tomorrow.
In another match, formidable side of J&K Forest team defeated Satluj Malpur Football Club by six goals to two (6-2) in an easy contest. For JK Bank, the first was a self goal in 17th minute, while Toufeeq, Shahid, Sameer, Toufeeq and Asrar scored goals in 25th, 43rd, 78th, 80th and 89th minutes respectively. For Satluj Malpur team, the goals were scored by Ravi and Munish in 19th and 67thminutes respectively. For foul play, yellow cards were shown to Ravi and Amarjeet Singh of Satluj Malpur team and Toufeeq of JK Forest team.
The matches were officiated by Stephen Moon, Vijay Kumar, Suresh Kumar, Kushay Kumar, Koushal Kumar, Harneel Singh and Rohit Kumar Gupta, while the match was witnessed by Dr Nirmolak Singh, Majeed Kakroo, SM Gill, Satpal, Satpal Kalsi, Mohan Lal, Krishan Lal, Harbans Lal and Yousuf Don.
