Tomorrow’s India belongs to youth: Dr Jitendra

NEW DELHI, Jan 10: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that tomorrow’s India belongs to youth and therefore, it is the responsibility of all of us to promote and groom young talent in every sphere of life.
He was speaking to a group of international youth awardees including Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist Yogeshwar Datt, Commonwealth Games Silver Medalist Rajiv Tomar, Commonwealth Games Silver Medalist Bajrang Puniya, International Wrestling Championship Gold Medalist Krishna Kumar, Asian Cadet  Championship Bronze Medalist Sumit Kumar and Dronacharya Award recipient Maha Singh Rao, who called on him and presented a memorandum .
Dr Jitendra Singh conveyed Government’s commitment to provide an environment which enables every youngster to realise his full potential without any intimidation or obstruction from any quarter.  He said, this is particularly important in the wake of the fact that over 65% of India’s population today is below the age of 35 years. Therefore, in the next few years, the Indian youth population, will be a vital and crucial resource back not only for India but infact for the entire world.
In order to achieve the goal of India becoming a world power, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, it would not only require an increasing role for the youth in every sphere but also make sure that those of the youngsters, who excel themselves internationally, are suitably rewarded and compensated back home so that they can inspire their peers with the pride and esteem of being an Indian.
Responding to some of the suggestions made by the international medalists, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, he will take up the issue with the Sports Ministry and other related Departments so that enough resources and funds are made available for providing training and practice to youngsters who bring international fame to India.
