SUCHETGARH, Sept 1: Congress leader and DDC Member of Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony today handed over two-wheeler scooty to a specially abled person at village Boli Chak in Suchetgarh.
The scooty was handed over in the presence of S Rashpal Singh Gill, Sarpanch Akshay Choudhary, Sarpanch Sham Lal Bhagat, Panch Bawa Choudhary, Vicky Choudhary, Ch Tirlok Singh and Omkar Choudhary.
Speaking on the occasion, Tony said “It is our moral duty to extend a helping hand to those in need, as they too are an integral part of our society. Providing a two-wheeler to our beneficiary enables them to enjoy the freedom of mobility without depending on others.”
Tony commended the commendable efforts of the Social Welfare Department in offering relief and support to disabled individuals through various schemes. He called upon the Government to adopt a more generous approach towards sponsoring scooters for beneficiaries. He highlighted that the border region has witnessed a higher incidence of handicapped individuals due to bomb blasts and road accidents, making it imperative for the government to step up its support.
Tony expressed concern that a single scooty might not suffice to address the needs of the broader community of disabled persons in the region.
Tony also sought the intervention of the Lt Governor to direct the relevant department to expedite the implementation of Government schemes aimed at providing scooters to specially abled persons.
