Top cricketers participate in Elites Challenge cricket match

SRINAGAR, May 23: The Elite Challenge One-Day cricket match was held between top Ranji players of the State at Islamia College ground, Hawal here today.
The match was played been GG Reds and GG Blues, while Blues were led by pacer Sameer Ali, Reds were led by Javaid Ahmad. Before the start of the match, players of both sides, which included cricketers like Abid Nabi, Mudasir Ahmad, Owais Shah, Amir, Waseem Raza and others were introduced to Ghani Gliders owner, Tariq Rashid Ghani and Director Physical Education and Sports Islamia College, Atta-ur-Rehman.
Batting first GG Reds were bundled out for 195 runs in 38 overs.
In reply GG Blues were on 170 for the loss of eight wickets when rain interrupted the match. The outcome was decided through rain rule method in which Reds were declared as winner.
Amoung the notable performers during the match were, Javaid Ahmad scored 49, Waseem Raza scored 50. In bowling Sameer Ali took four wickets while as Abid Nabi also chipped in with three wickets. Javaid Ahmad was adjudged as man of the match for his 49 and two wickets.
Later prize distribution ceremony was held in which winning and runners up teams were awarded.
The event was organized by J&K Sport’s Development Association and was sponsored by Ghani Gliders.
