Tourism industry back bone of State’s economy: Yudhvir

JAMMU, July 13: “Underscoring the need to exploit tourism potential to the fullest, senior BJP leader Yudhvir Sethi today said tourism industry is the back bone of State’s economy and all out efforts have been initiated by the Central and State Governments to promote the State as an international tourism destination.
He said Jammu region has vast potential for tourism and multi-faceted approach has to be adopted to exploit untapped potential of the region.
Pilgrim and Adventure tourism has tremendous scope in the region and we have to ensure that all stakeholders of the tourism industry work in unison with Government to tap the potential”, he stressed.
He was speaking at a function organized by the Tour and Travels Operator Association, BC Road, here.
The association had organized the event to felicitate Yudhvir Sethi and put forth demands for speedy disposal. Charter of demands was presented for active consideration of the Government.
The main demands projected by the association included sanitation staff for the area, sitting arrangement for visiting tourists, special sanitation drive, covering of open nallah and beautification of the area keeping in view the regular inflow of tourists.
