Kargil International Marathon Organised

KARGIL, Oct 22: SEWAK in collaboration with District Kargil Olympic Association and 121 Infantry Brigade organised Kargil International Marathon, here today.
The event was flagged off by chief guest, Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan from Tourist Facilitation Centre, Kargil.
The CEC was accompanied by guest of honour, Ghulam Moin-ud-Din, SDM Sankoo and CEO KDA, along with special guest, Haji Mirza Hussain, President District Kargil Olympic Association and organizer Mohammad Hamza besides many dignitaries of various sports organizations were present on the occasion.
More than 50 players from SAI Center Kargil, Sqay Association Kargil and sports lovers participated in the marathon.
Feroz Khan encouraged the participants about the marathon by giving example of Javed Badgami, Ambassador of ‘Run for Unity’ and said that today marathon races are prominent all around the world and many people have earned name and fame from it.
He also applauded the valour and sacrifices made by the Army. Khan also paid a rich tribute to martyr Zulfiqar Ali who laid his life fighting against terrorism in Kashmir valley.
The CEC said that this year due to COVID-19 the event was restricted and organized symbolically only but in future it would be organized at a larger level where Athletes from all over the world will take part.
Haji Mirza Hussain (President of Kargil Olympic Association) said that DKOA was working for the promotion of all the different sports of Kargil and to introduce sports culture in Kargil.
The chief guest distributed certificates among the participants.
