JAMMU, Jan 20: A traffic cop was injured when a Swift car hit him during documents checking of vehicles near Jewel Chowk, here today.
As per police sources, a Head Constable (HC) of Traffic Police Department identified as Subash Chander signaled a Swift car bearing registration number JK02BH-8020 to stop for documents checking near Jewel Chowk.
Instead of stopping, the driver accelerated the vehicle, hit the Head Constable and fled away from the spot.
The injured cop was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu, where he was responding to the treatment, when last reports came in.
A case under FIR Number 11/2020 under Section 332 IPC has been registered at Nowabad Police Station and hunt has been launched to trace out the vehicle and arrest the accused driver.
