Srinagar, Sep 2: Traffic was on Thursday suspended on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the only road connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, as a precautionary measure.
An official of Traffic Control Unit (TCU) Ramban said over phone that no traffic was allowed on the Srinagar-Jammu highway today due to restrictions in the valley.
Vehicles which had left Jammu this morning for Srinagar have been stopped at different places on the highway, including Banihal and Ramban, he said.
Similarly, no vehicle is coming from Kashmir valley, the official said.
However, a traffic official in Srinagar told UNI that for them highway is open for traffic. However, he said due to restrictions in districts vehicles are not plying.
