JAMMU, Dec 6: Five days trekking expedition, organised by Zone Gandhi Nagar, culminated today at base camp Mansar.
The trekking expedition was flagged off by Chief Education Officer, Vijay Kumar in presence of Assistant Director, Mool Raj and District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma from Gandhi Nagar.
In this five days trekking expedition, nearly 100 students from various institutions of Zone Gandhi Nagar participated. The students explored the adjoining areas of famous Mansar Lake including Mahoregarh and Dhergarh etc during their trekking.
The innovative idea of trekking was brain child of Director General Youth Services and Sports Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman with the aim to give some propitiate to students who were struck for the last seven to eight months due to COVID-19 pandemic.
“The trekking is a new concept and experience for all the students as they witnessed the rough treks, water channels with steep treks scattered inhabitants,” said a official of the event, adding that the students trekked the renowned Mahoregarh and Dhergarh treks from the base camp and inculcated new experience and learnt about the flora and fauna of the Mansar locality.
The children also enjoyed the adventurous activities like Rappelling and Rope climbing with the expertise and active support of Pir Panjal adventurers who guided the whole trekking.
