RAJOURI, Sept 18: Thannamandi police foiled a bovines smuggling bid and seized a truck loaded with nine (9) milch animals during last night.
Giving details official sources said that a police naka party from Thannamandi led by SHO, Insp Karan Chalotra intercepted a truck No. JK-11/ 5169 at Bego Nad, about 2 kms ahead of Thannamandi town last night for checking. The driver stopped the vehicle and tried to escape.
The police party chased and nabbed the driver and during physical checking of the vehicle, they found nine bovine animals loaded in it. The police party seized the truck and rescued cattle. They were being taken to Kashmir via Mughal Road. The accused driver was identified as Khaliq Ahmed, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Jawahar Nagar, Rajouri.
The police registered a case against the smugglers and started investigation. The truck had managed to cross several police nakas earlier in Rajouri area during last night prior to its seizure in Thannmandi.
