Trucker arrested with 18 kgs poppy straw

JAMMU, Sept 15: Kanachack police under “Operation Sanjeevani” apprehended a trucker along with 18 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Kanachack Police Station laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AD-3763.
During checking, police recovered 18 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Kirpal Singh, son of Chatur Singh, a resident of Gundna Khawas, district Rajouri.
During preliminary enquiry, it came to light that the accused had brought the consignment from Kashmir and was transporting it via Mughal Road to Jammu for selling among the youth. With his arrest, police saved the youth to become drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 117/17 under relevant Sections has been registered at Kanachack Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Kanachack Inspector Neeraj Sharma along with ASI Bashir Ahmed, Sgct Sukhdev Sharma, Constable Rakesh Matoo, Constable Dalip Singh and SPO Ganesh Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Domana Varinder Singh and SP Rural Arun Gupta.
