RAMBAN, Feb 22: A trucker has been arrested along with 10 kilograms of poppy straw, here.
As per police sources, during checking, a team from Ramban Police Station intercepted a Jammu bound truck bearing registration number HR37D-6036.
During checking, police team recovered 10 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the trucker, who has been identified as Ajmeer Singh, son of Joginder Singh of Jasrota, Rajbagh, District Kathua.
A case under FIR Number 35/19 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered against the accused person at Police Station Ramban and investigation has been geared up to ascertain the source and other persons involved in smuggling of contraband.
Police team led by SHO Ramban Inspector Vijay Kotwal made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Asgar Malik, Additional SP Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
