JAMMU, Sept 3: Television Software Makers Joint Action Committee (TSMJAC) urged upon Prasar Bharti to give a balanced approach to DDK Jammu and DDK Srinagar.
Addressing a press conference, Sudhir Singh Jamwal said that this committee has been framed to fight for the due rights of all such media persons, who are related with Doordarshan.
He said that DDK Jammu is putting out four hours service for six days a week and half hour transmission on Sundays. Every regional Kendra has the same transmission hours including DDK Srinagar but DDK Srinagar gets the budget five times more than DDK Jammu and the latter is still called ‘PGF Jammu’ in official records of Directorate, he added.
Effective steps are required to be initiated so that the bottle necks are removed for smooth functioning of the Kendra, he said, adding that this shall also remove the anguish and unrest in Duggar civil society.
Jamwal further stated that Doordarshan Kendra Jammu has only half an hour share in the 24 hours Kashir channel, adding that Dogri should be given sufficient representation in Kashir channel as this is the only language being understood by the people residing in border areas of the State.
“There are hundreds of private producers, film makers, directors, technicians and writers who are dependent on this television industry”, he said and demanded framing of proper policy so that these artists/technicians also get involved in the programme process.
He urged Prasar Bharti and Ministry of Home Affairs to send some sincere officials to DDK Jammu so that they could be apprised of problems being faced by them.
