TT, Chess, Badminton, Carrom tournaments get underway

JAMMU, Apr 16: District Level Inter School Tournaments in the disciplines of Table Tennis, Chess, Badminton and Carrom for Under-14 and Under-17 boys categories got under way here at indoor complex M A Stadium and Badminton Hall BSF Paloura here.
In all, 250 boys drawn from various institution of District Jammu are taking part in the competitions, which are being organized by the Department of Youth Service and Sports under the patronize of ITS Director General, Navin Agarwal.
Earlier, the Tournaments were declared open by Rishi Kumar, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu in a simple and well attended function.
While addressing the participants he said that preserving sanctity of sports and taking part with sporting spirit should be the objective, no matter who wins and who loses.
The completions are being organized under the supervision of Sukhdev Raj Sharma, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu.
Today’s results:
Table Tennis under-14 boys semifinal: KC Public School beat Haritage Public School by 3-0; Hanumant drubbed Jasmeet Singh by 11-5, 11-4, while Jai beat Vedant Gupta by 11-3, 11-5 and Sudhikshan outplayed Gurdaat by 11-5, 11-6.
G.D. Goenka beat Model Academy by 3-0; Sawan trounced Abrar Hussain by 11-6, 11-4, while Aryan defeated Sobaan by 11-1, 11-5 and Ojaswin prevailed over Hoshang by 11-5, 11-2.
The competitions were held in other disciplines also.
