Two arrested with cannabis, heroin, illicit liquor

Bovines smuggling bids foiled

JAMMU, July 14: Chanderkote and Jourian Police arrested two persons along with cannabis, heroin and illicit liquor.
Meanwhile, teams from Police Stations Ramban, Chanderkote and Batote foiled bovines smuggling bid and rescued 103 cattle.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Police Station Chanderkote led by SHO Chanderkote Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary and assisted by PSI Madhav Sharma laid a naka and intercepted a car bearing registration number JK19-9308.
During checking, police team recovered cannabis and 3 grams heroin from the possession of the driver and arrested him.
The arrested person was identified as Puran Singh, son of Tarlok Chand of Sawani, Chanderkote District Ramban.
A case under FIR Number 79/2021 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Chanderkote and investigation started.
SSP Ramban PD Nitya has appealed to the public to support police in its drive against the drugs in Ramban.
“These drugs are spoiling the future of our nation and it is our collective responsibility to eradicate this menace from the society”, she added.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Post Jourian led by SI Kunal Singh Jamwal during patrolling apprehended a man along with 23 bottles of illicit liquor.
The arrested person was identified as Rahul Kumar, son of Madan Lal of Bhambla District Reasi, at present Jourian.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation started.
The arrests and recoveries were made under the supervision of SHO Akhnoor Inspector Hilal Azhar and SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial.
However, teams from Police Stations Ramban, Chanderkote and Batote laid check points in their respective jurisdictions and intercepted three Srinagar bound vehicles.
During checking, police team rescued 103 bovine animals. The bovines were found loaded in very congested and unhygienic manner subjecting the animals to cruelty. Furthermore, the vehicles carrying the bovine animals were without any proper permission.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Police Stations Ramban, Chanderkote and Batote and investigation started.
