Two commit suicide, 3 make abortive attempt

JAMMU, Feb 5: In separate cases, two persons allegedly committed suicide while three other made abortive attempts on their lives by consuming some poisonous substances at their respective residences in city outskirts.
According to police sources, two young boys identified as Ajay Kumar (20) son of Isshar Dass and Naresh Kumar (21) son of Suram Chand, both residents of Ramnagar, allegedly consumed some rat poison at their rented accommodation in Narwal. He said that matter came to light in the morning when their employer (a rehri owner) reached their residence, as they did not respond to his repeated phone calls.
Founding them in unconscious condition, their employer immediately shifted them to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where Ajay Kumar was declared as brought dead by the doctors whereas the condition of Naresh was stated to be serious. After conducting autopsy, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while inquest proceedings in this connection were initiated at police post Narwal.
Similarly, a man identified as Omesh Rathore (40) son of Balla Ji Rathore, resident of Kanpur, at present residing in Preet Nagar, Digiana (Jammu) consumed some poisonous substance at his residence. He was rushed to Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, but later referred to GMCH Jammu, where he expired at about 3 PM. His body was shifted to mortuary room of hospital for post mortem. The Digiana police had initiated inquest proceedings in this connection.
At Akhnoor, a man identified as Ravinder Singh (35) son of Parsa Singh, resident of Akhnoor, made an abortive attempt on his life by consuming some poisonous substance at his residence. In another incident, a woman namely Suman Devi (29) wife of Rajeev Kumar, resident of Kangrail (Mishriwala) allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at her residence. She was shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment. In both cases, the concerned police had taken cognizance.
