KULGAM, Feb 25: The two-day Winter Carnival, organised by the District Administration Kulgam in collaboration with the Tourism Department concluded today at Aharbal tourism destination, here.
Over the period of two days, the event attracted massive participation of students, tourists and locals.
The Winter Carnival witnessed multifarious activities and programmes that kept the visitors hooked to the event.
Scintillating cultural performances presented by local youth, students and professional bands including Pir Panjal Strings, Malang Band, Achabal open Mike remained one of the attractions of the event which mesmerized the audience and guests present.
Carnival also hosted snow sports events including Snow Cricket, Snow Volleyball and other games witnessing active participation from sports persons and students across the district.
Multiple stalls were also put up by departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Tourism, Handicrafts, Fisheries, Employment, NRLM and others disseminating information regarding key government schemes and programmes.
A snow art cum heritage exhibit which includes snow figures and traditional art was on display, and attracted overwhelming response from the public.
To encourage the artists, students and other participants who enthusiastically participated in different events a felicitation ceremony was held during which they were awarded with certificates, medals and mementoes.
Aharbal’s picturesque area hosts breathtaking spots ranging from famous Waterfalls, to mesmerizing views of Gurwattan and Sangam and the expansive meadows of Kungwattan, gushing waters of turbulent Vishaw besides the fascinating upstream Alpine Lake, Kousarnag, which is a trekker’s paradise.
All the beautiful areas are full of adventure tourism avenues, trekking, sight viewing, camping and are famous for picnicking and leisure activities.
The event was also attended by, ADC, Viqar Ahmad Giri; JDP, Zahid Sajjad; SDM Noorabad, Bashir Ul Hassan; CEO ADA, Ghalib Mohi-Ud-Din besides DDC member Manzgam, local people and officers from Civil and Police administration.
