Two killed as car plunges into gorge

BHADERWAH, July 26: Two persons were killed on the spot when a car they were travelling in skidded-off the road and fell into a deep gorge at Khellani Nullah, 14 km from here on Batote- Kishtwar National Highway.
According to police, the accident occurred at Khellani Nullah this morning when the car bearing registration number JK02BK-8974 was on its way from Jammu to Doda.
SSP Doda, Zahid Naseem Manhas, said that mishap occured due to the error of the driver who lost control over the steering and the vehicle skidded-off the road and fell into a 170 feet deep gorge at Khellani Nullah.
“Police immediately rushed to the spot and along with locals evacuated both the passengers, who were badly trapped in boulders from the nullah and shifted them to District Hospital Doda, where doctors declared both of them as brought dead,” SSP added.
The deceased have been identified as Imat Kumar son of Ram Lal, resident of Roopnagar Jammu and Ramesh Kumar son of Mahraj Pandita, resident of Jagti Narotam. Doda Police has registered a case in this connection.
