Two killed, one injured of electrocution; four injured as bank guard’s gun goes off

JAMMU, June 27: Four persons including three women and a man today suffered injuries when a rifle of a bank guard accidentally went off in Satwari area of city outskirts while two line men of Power Development Department were electrocuted to death and another injured in Seri Pandita area of city outskirts.
“A 12 bore rifle of a security guard standing inside the J&K Bank, Ashok Nagar (Satwari) area this morning went off accidentally,” police here said, adding four persons including three women and a man were injured due to splinters of the bullet, which hit the floor of the bank premises.
“All the injured, who were identified as Usha Sharma wife of Ratan Kumar of Rani Talab (Digiana), Dalbir Sharma wife of Inderjeet Sharma of Domana (at present Nanak Nagar), Ritu wife of Neerum of Narwal Payeen (Satwari) and Qasib son of Sameer Bhatti of Nai Basti, were hospitalized and their condition was stated to be normal”, police said, adding that the accused security guard namely Bachchan Singh son of Teja Singh, resident of Bantalab, was arrested and a case FIR No 151/2016 under Sections 286/336/337 RPC was registered against him at police station Gandhi Nagar.
Meanwhile, two daily wager linemen of Power Development Department were killed and another got injured while repairing an electric line in Seri Pandita area, falling under the limits of police station Gharota, they came in contact with a live wire.
According to police, the incident took place in Bhalwal tehsil of Jammu district. The deceased were identified as Kewal Krishan (40) son of Chuni Lal, a resident of Kanhachak and Devi Singh (35) son of Chanchal Singh of Marjhali (Bhalwal) while the injured has been identified as Sanjeev Singh son of Babu Ram of Simblewala. The bodies of the deceased were shifted to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for postmortem.
In this connection, a case of negligence has been registered against PDD at police station Gharota.
