Two killed, one injured in road accidents

JAMMU, May 29: Two persons were killed and one other was injured in two separate road accidents in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, a bike-borne youth was killed in a road accident this morning when his bike bearing registration number JK02BB-9573 was hit by a speedily driven truck having registration number JK02AA-4515 near Asia crossing point. “The accused truck driver escaped from the spot leaving behind the vehicle”, he said.
He further said that the biker identified as Billu Ram (30) son of Babu Ram, a resident of Phallian Mandal died on the spot. The body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites after conducting post mortem at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu.
After registering a case in this regard, Nehru Market police led by Sub-Inspector, Sumit Magotra acted swiftly, launched a manhunt for the accused truck driver and later arrested him. The accused truck driver has been identified as Surinder Singh son of Param Singh of RS Pura. Both the vehicles involved in the accident have also been seized by the police.
Meanwhile, a Xylo car bearing registration number JK13C-6705 met with an accident this afternoon at Toll Plaza, Bantalab, Nagrota while its driver tried to avoid a collision with another vehicle. In the mishap, two of the seven occupants of the car were injured one of them critically. They were immediately shifted to GMCH Jammu, where the critically injured Bashir Ahmed (60) son of Mohd Shabhan of Qaziqand died during treatment. The condition of other injured identified as Mohd Ibrahim (60) son of Ghulam Qadir of Pulwama, was stated to be stable till the last reports came in.
The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for completing medico-legal formalities. A case in this regard has been registered at police station Nagrota.
