Two SPOs, civilian held for murder

SRINAGAR, Oct 7: Police today arrested two police cops and a civilian in connection with the mysterious death of a woman at Ahlan-Gadool, Kokernag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. A departmental enquiry has also been initiated against the arrested police personnel. The enquiry would be headed by an Assistant Sub Inspector.
The mysterious death of the woman had led to strong protests in the village and people demanded action against the police personnel. The residents alleged that the woman was beaten to death by the police cops and as such stern action should be taken against them.
Police officials here today said that the investigation carried into the death of the woman   Mukhti wife of Mohammad Sultan Mugloo resident of Ahlan, Gadool, Kokernag revealed that the woman was eliminated by her son-in-law in connivance with some of the police officials.
“The investigations were carried out under Section 174 CrPC into the incident. Further investigation carried by the police has revealed that the son-in-law of the deceased lady Abdul Majid Deka son of Ahsan Deka resident of Ahlan Vailoo, Kokernag along with two SPOs Mohammad Ashraf Deka and Fayaz Ahmad hatched the plan about the death of the woman,” said the police officials.
The police officials said that Abdul Majid in connivance with the police personnel misguided and misled the police by placing three kilograms and 300 grams of diascoria near the house of Suliman Naikoo. After this the police personnel raided the house of Mohammad Sultan Mugloo in order to recover more forest produce and it was here that the woman died.
The police officials said that an FIR has been lodged and the two SPOs Mohammad Ashraf Deka and Fayaz Ahmad along with the son-in-law of the deceased Abdul Majid Deka have been arrested.
Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police, Anantnag, has initiated departmental enquiry against the police party headed by ASI Mohammad Sultan. The enquiry would also consist of Selection Grade Constable Abdul Rashid, Selection Grade Constable Shabir Ahmad, Constable Tariq Ahmad, SPO Rayees Ahmad, SPO Ghulam Ahmad, SPO Fayaz Ahmad and SPO Mohammad Ashraf.
