JAMMU, Mar 3: An emergency meeting of  Udhampur  Development  Council  (UDC) was held under the chairmanship of  Parvesh Parihar, here today.
The members present in the meeting showed resentment against continuous disparity with the masses of Udhampur and grave concern for the decision taken by Sports Authority of India (SAI) to Shift Sports Training Centre (STC) Udhampur to Jammu.
Parvesh Parihar said that the Udhampur District is being ignored by the Government time and again and now the SAI is following the same steps. Anil Paba, president UDC said in the year 2001 Sports Training Centre STC was opened here for the benefit of local youth but due to apathy of past District Sports Officers of Udhampur and Officers of Sports Authority of India, the youths of Udhampur were not given such benefit.
The members appealed the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to issue necessary directive to concerned authorities to cancel the decision of transferring STC Udhampur to Jammu and initiate inquiry as to under what circumstances the decision was taken to shift the Centre.
Prominent among others who spoke in meeting were Rajesh Sharma, Bharat Paba and Rakesh Padha.
