UDHAMPUR, Mar 29: Udhampur Cricket Club registered 86 runs victory over Habashi Cricket Club in the final match and lifted the title trophy of the T-20 Cricket tournament being organized by district police under Civic Action Programme at District Police Lines.
On the occasion, Garib Dass, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Reasi Range was chief guest, who awarded the winner and runner-up teams in presence of Sukhdev Bhasin, DySP Headquarters Udhampur, officials of District Youth Services and Sports Department and sports lovers.
Gourav Sharma was awarded as best batsman, whereas Suresh Jamwal was awarded as best bowler and Anjum Salaria was awarded as man of the series.
While speaking, Garib Dass highlighted the importance of sports in day-to-day life. He asked the youth to participate in the sports activities to keep their body mentally and physically fit.
Benam Tosh, incharge SSP said that the main aim of the tournament was to channelize the energies of local youth in right directions.
The tournament was played on knockout basis, in which 12 teams representing different youth clubs of different areas participated, he added.
