UDHAMPUR, Aug 22: Three-day Udhampur District Inter-School Tournament for Under-19 boys and girls in the disciplines of kho-kho, kabaddi, volleyball and wrestling got underway at Subash Stadium, here today.
The tournament began with the competitions in girls section, in which over 75 girls drawn from various institutions participated.
Sukhdev Singh, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Udhampur was the chief guest in the inaugural function, who declared the tournament open.
In kabaddi Under-19 girls final, Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Garhi defeated Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Udhampur by (21-10) points, while in kho-kho Under-19 girls final, Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Garhi again defeated Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Udhampur and in volleyball Under-19 girls, HSS Ramnagar drubbed Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Udhampur by (25-14, 25-14) in straight sets.
The matches were officiated by Pawan Kumar, Poonam Sharma, Kanchan Sharma, Rakesh Sawney, Pushap Kumar, Raj Kumar, Kuldeep Kumar, Vaishnoo Devi, Raman Kumar, Manik Nagrota, Sanjeev Verma and Sunil Sharma.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were ZPEOs Champa Devi and Ram Lal Badyal.
