Udhampur faces Kathua in U-19 boys summit clash

JAMMU, Oct 16: District Udhampur will lock horns with District Kathua in Under-19 boys title clash of the ongoing Divisional Level Inter-District Handball Tournament, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at Police Lines Handball ground, here.
Meanwhile, in other finals of boys section, Jammu will take on Doda in Under-14 age group and Udhampur will lock horns with Jammu in Under-17 category.
In the girls section, Jammu will face Udhampur in Under-19 title clash, while Doda will meet Jammu in Under-17 finals.
The tournament in which over 300 players drawn from various districts of Jammu division participated, is being held under the overall supervision of Ashok Kumar, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu.
Earlier, in Under-17 boys semifinal, Udhampur drubbed Doda by nine goals to six (9-6). For Udhampur, Vishesh scored 3 goals, while Abhey and Rahul scored 2 goals each. Rahat scored 3 goals for Doda.
In second semifinal match of Under-17 boys, Jammu beat Kathua in a close contest by (6-5). For Jammu, Manavdeep and Rohit scored 3 and 2 goals respectively, while Arjun netted 3 goals for Kathua.
In Under-19 boys semifinal matches, Udhampur thrashed Rajouri by (12-2). Amit was the star performer for Udhampur, scoring 4 splendid goals, while Naman, Ayush and Akhil netted 2 goals each. For Rajouri, Honey scored both the goals.
In another semifinal match of Under-19 boys, Kathua scripted a narrow win over Jammu by (8-7) goals and qualified for the finals.
Today’s matches among others were witnessed by ZPEO’s Sarita Pandha, Jeet Singh (convener of the event) and Veena Tickoo.
