Udhampur Police dedicates library to public, organizes wrestling competition

UDHAMPUR, Mar 21: In order to channelize the energies of youth of Kud, Chenani and its surrounding areas towards constrictive direction rather than their inclination towards anti-social activities, District Police Udhampur today dedicated a library in the Panchayat Ghar Chenani, sponsored by Jammu and Kashmir Police under Civic Action Programme, here today.
General Knowledge/ Competitive books, daily news papers/journals etc were provided to general public especially local youth to excel in their future perspective. Garib Dass, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Reasi Range, who was the chief guest on the occasion, inaugurated the Library in the presence of Khalil Ahmed Poswal, Additional SP Udhampur.
The inauguration event of library was followed by a wrestling championship organised by Udhampur Police under Civic Action Programme of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Thousands of people of Kud, Chenani, Udhampur and surrounding areas witnessed the championship.
The Championship was won by the Benia Pehalwan of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF Pahalwan remained the runner-up. The winner was rewarded with Rs 11000 as cash prize and a Gurj and Certificate, while the runners-up was presented a cash prize of Rs 7000 and a Certificate. Garib Dass, while speaking on the occasion lauded the role of general public in making the event successful.
SHO Police Station, Chenani Inspector Ajit Singh was also present on the occasion.
