Udhampur Police organizes ‘Anti-Drugs Awareness’ programme

UDHAMPUR, Feb 19: Udhampur Police today organized a debate competition on “Drug Awareness” in the premises of Shivalik College Udhampur under Civic Action Programme of Jammu and Kashmir Police in which students from different Schools/Colleges of Udhampur participated.
Mohd. Suleman Choudhary, Sr. Superintendent of Police, District Udhampur was the chief guest on the occasion, who while speaking said that the motive of District Police behind organizing this programme was to create awareness among the younger generation especially students about the ill effects of drug abuse and alcoholism.
The students were asked to hate the seductive drugs as it spoils the life of the addicted persons as well as their family.
SSP assured the participants that similar awareness programmes would be taken up by the Police in the different rural areas of Udhampur as well and strict action under law would be taken against the criminals involved in the menace of narcotics smuggling.
1st prize was given to Bhagisha Kundal of Happy Model Hr. Sec. School, Udhampur, while Madhu Bala and Akshita Gupta were declared 2nd and third respectively. The winners were given cash prizes of Rs. 4000, Rs. 2000 and Rs. 1000 respectively besides commendation certificates.
