JAMMU, Apr 30: Prince Thakur of National Academy High School Udhampur bagged the first gold medal in the jr. boys category of the Udhampur and Reasi District Sport Climbing Competitions which started at Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, here today.
The silver and bronze medals were claimed by Imran Aslam of Aryan Oriental Convent Higher Secondary School and Manish Singh Katoch of National Academy High School, Udhampur.
Similarly, in the junior boys of Reasi district Balwant Singh emerged victorious, while Shahid Iqbal and Aryan Sharma clinched the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Result of Reasi district: in mini boys: Hari Vansh, Anubhar and Asif stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, while in mini girls, Niharika, Janvi and Sojal Bhagat remained 1st, 2nd and 3rd and in sub junior girls, Divyanshi, Tanvi & Avantika stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
For Udhampur: in mini girls: Aushi Thakur-1st, Prachi Sharma-2nd and Ishika Thakur-3rd, in mini boys: Anurag Sharma-1st, Samaksh Sharma-2nd and Ayush Raina-3rd and in sub jr. girls: Rupali Thakuri-1st, Ira Singh-2nd and Dhriti Sharma-3rd.
Meanwhile, final rounds in other categories of both districts of Udhampur and Reasi were in progress. However, competitions in the men and women categories of both the districts could not be held for lack of adequate participation.
A total of 250 climbers participated in the championship, which was declared open by Neelam Khajuria, Additional Secretary, Youth Services & Sports Department J&K in the presence of Shawetica Khajuria, general secretary; Ram Khajuria, senior vice president and other office bearers of the Mountaineering Association of J&K.
Administrator of National Academy High School, Udhampur Anukampa Sharma, international climbers Shivani Charak, Shilpa Charak and Arun Deep Singh were also among prominent persons present on the occasion. Both the championships are being organized by the Mountaineering Association of J&K and sponsored by J&K Sports Council.
