REASI, Sept 9: Udhampur Wrestler Ajay Sharma of Laden Power House lifted the 51st Annual Sujandhar Kesari Dangal title by defeating Wrestler Noor Shaker of Guru Hanuman Akhara Delhi in the main first malli bout that lasted for 14 minutes at Village Sujandhar, Bhamag, here.
The Dangal was organized by Sujandhar Dangal Committee under the overall supervision of Sohan Singh Thakur (Sonu), Vice Chairman Katra Indian Style Wrestling Association and Prem Singh (Mangu), General Secretary Sujandhar Dangal Committee.
Vice President Indian Style Wrestling Association of India who is also President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association and former Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion who distributed the cash prizes worth Rs 2,05,000 among the Wrestlers.
BJP leader Saraf Singh Naag, Vice President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Naresh Kumar (Pappu lakri), social activist Sohan Singh Thakur (Sonu), Tehsildar and Mela Officer Akshay Rajan were the guests of honour.
Sarpanch Amar Nath Bhagat, Tehsil Supply Officer Rashpaul Singh, Bansi Lal Thakur, Master Kirpa Ram and Sub- Inspector GS Malik were also present on the occasion
The winner of 1st malli bout Wrestler Ajay Sharma was cash awarded with Rs 18,000 by chief guest and other dignitaries, while runners-up Wrestler Noor Shakher got Rs 13,000 from Tehsildar Akshay Rajan, Thakur Balwant Singh and Prem Singh.
70 bouts were played in the one-day long dangal. Sohan Singh Thakur (Sonu) contributed Rs 52,000 as financial assistance to the organizers i,e. prize money for 1st and 2nd malli bout.
