UDHAMPUR, May 18: Udhampur zone trounced Jib zone in the summit clash and lifted the kabaddi Under-14 boys title trophy in the one-day Inter-Zonal Tournament, which concluded at Sports Stadium, here today.
The Tournament, in the disciplines of volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho and wrestling was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the overall supervision of Sukhdev Singh, DYSSO Udhampur.
Benam Tosh, Incharge SSP Udhampur was the chief guest on the occasion who declared the tournament open.
According to an official handout issued here, 174 players drawn from 9 zones of the district participated in the event.
Earlier, in volleyball Under-14 boys final, Tikri drubbed Ghordi to win the title, while in kho-kho Under-14 boys, Udhampur got better of Tikri to win the final.
In wrestling Under-14 boys 25 kg, Ajay Kumar of Jib zone bagged gold while Sudesh Kumar of Chenani claimed silver.
Wrestling Under-14 boys 30 kg gold went to Rajinder Kumar of Chenani zone, while the silver was claimed by Jugal Kumar of Ghordi zone.
In wrestling Under-14 boys 35 kg, Ajay Kumar of Jib clinched gold, while the silver went Kewal Kumar of Ghordi.
Meanwhile, in volleyball Under-17 boys, Udhampur got better of Tikri in the final, while in kabaddi Under-17 boys final, Panchari prevailed over Chenani. Kho-kho Under-17 boys title went to Udhampur zone by defeating Tikri zone in the final.
Ganesh Kumar and Pawan Kumar of Chenani zone, while Mohd Saleem, Shakeel Mohd, Bhupinder and Dheeraj Singh of Tikri zone claimed gold in various weight categories of Under-17 boys wrestling, while the silver went to Ashok Kumar of Jib, Vikas Sharma of Ghordi, Ishvat Hussain of Dudu, Manzoor Hussain of Udhampur and Muzaffar Farooq of Ramnagar.
The matches were officiated by Pawan Kumar, Rakesh Modi, Ajay Kumar, Pushap Kumar, Raj Kumar, Rakesh Sahni, Desh Raj, Shashi Bala, Vaishno Devi, Reena Gupta, Rishi Kumar, Amrit Sharma and Sanjeev Sharma.
