LONDON, Apr 29 : The UK Embassy in Tokyo on Monday launched a public appeal for funding in cash and in-kind sponsorship to organize a celebration of the birthday of King Charles III in June.
“The British Embassy Tokyo is looking for cash and in-kind sponsorship to help deliver the annual event to mark the birthday of His Majesty King Charles III,” the embassy said.
The monarch’s birthday celebration will take place on June 20 in Tokyo and June 11 in Osaka, the statement read.
Each UK monarch has doubled up on their birthday celebrations since the 18th century as part of a longstanding tradition, with one of the festivities marking an official birthday as a public celebration and their true birth date with a private event. King Charles III celebrates two birthdays on June 17 and November 14. (UNI)
