Under-trial who escaped from jail still untraced

Jammu, September 7: Murder-accused, who had escaped from the security jail of Kathua around 15 days back has still not been traced and reports suggested that the criminal has managed to flee from the State.
Official sources confirmed that the under-trial had managed to escape to another states. However, police had sent teams to Delhi and Punjab to locate the criminal. “We are following all leads with the aim of arresting him and shall be able to catch him soon”, they said.
Meanwhile, on the directions of ADGP Prisons, Naveen Aggarwal, a Departmental Inquiry is already under process to ascertain the reasons behind the escape of the murder accused – Sohan Singh. “Officials posted at the jail premises are also being questioned to find out the exact reasons, which led to his escape”, sources said.
Three officials of the Kathua District Jail had been placed under suspension by the ADGP, when he personally visited the site on the day of incident. The officials included Surinder Kumar, Assistant Superintendent, Ganesh Dass and Surinder Singh, both Selection Grade Warders.
The Departmental inquiry has already been assigned to Rajni Sehgal, Superintendent, Kot Bhalwal jail.
