JAMMU, Nov 22: The team from Union Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) today concluded its 4-day visit to State to inspect the implementation of MGNREGA here.
The team headed by Aparjita Sarangi visited Samba, Jammu, Reasi and Udhampur districts in Jammu division while in Kashmir division, it reviewed the development works in Budgam, Baramulla, Ganderbal and Srinagar districts.
The team was received and accompanied by Nirmal Sharma, Commissioner/ Secretary to Government, Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, J&K along with Additional Secretary, Rakesh Badyal.
The Joint Secretary also called on the Minister for Rural Development, Abdul Haq Khan where she had a detailed interaction regarding the implementation of the MGNREGA.
The team also held interactions with ACDs and other officers of the Rural Department.
The team appreciated the effective implementation and subsequent creation of durable assets under MGNREGA in the State and has expressed its keenness to provide more funds under the scheme.
The Central Government has released Rs 900 crores as Central share under the scheme so far. However after the visit, the Central Government has expressed willingness to allocate funds up to the tune of Rs 2000 crore for the current year keeping in view the performanance of the State.
