JAMMU, Nov 1: Unique Chess Premier League was inaugurated today at IDPS School Sunjwan, here today.
The league is organised by Jammu District Chess Association in collaboration with IDPS School Sunjwan and Crown Trust. In this league, players were picked through auction by owners of four teams including Crazy Queens owned by Atul Kumar Gupta, Kings and Knights owned by Anil Abrol, White Knights, owned by Baldev Raj and Vivek Chess Academy, owned by Vivek Bharti.
Commonwealth Gold Medalist Meenal Gupta got highest amount of Rs 5000  by Kings and Knights, followed by top rated player, Soham Kamotra with Rs 4500  by Vivek Chess Academy and other players got the bid amount of Rs 3000 including all captains, Rs 2000  to all rated players, Rs 1000 for all other participants. A total of 20 players were picked by owners for this opening edition.
Parmod Srivastava, President Jammu Sahodaya School Complex and also principal of Model Academy Jammu was chief guest, while Rohini Aima, Chairperson cum Principal Jammu Sanskriti School was the guest of honour.
Suminder Singh and Swarn Choudhary, both MDs of IDPS of the host School, Randeep Wazir, Principal IDPS School, Atul Kumar Gupta President All J&K Chess Association, Baldev Raj, Taranvir Singh Gujral, Raj Kumar, Madhu Abrol and Jyoti Sharma were present during the event.
