Unique PS, KV-1 lift Kabaddi titles

JAMMU, Jan 17: Outplaying their rivals convincingly in the summit clash, Unique Public School and KV-1 Gandhi Nagar lifted the title trophies of the Jammu District Junior Kabaddi Championship, organized by J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association, which concluded at Green Field, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
In the boys’ final, Unique Public School defeated Vishwa Bharti Public School in a close contest by 3 points, while the third position was bagged by Dashmesh BV Mandir.
In girls section, KV No-1 defeated Women College Gandhi Nagar by 5 points to win the title, while the third position was bagged by KV Bari Brahamna.
Ranjeet Kalra, Advisor Sports Govt of Lakshadweep and Vice Chairman J&K State Sports Council was the guest of honour on the valedictory function, while Anil Gupta, President J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association presided over the function and also announced cash awards of Rs 10,000 to winners and Rs 5,000 to runner-up teams.
J&K BSNL Kabaddi team which recently won gold medal in All India BSNL Tournament was also felicitated on the occasion.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were IJS Chamak, retired DIG; Haji Abdul Qayoom, Chief Sports Officer; Ravi Singh, Divisional Sports Officer, BS Tirthi, Vice President and Surinder Mohan, General Secretary of the Association.
