UP CM gifts second instalment of Rs 1,000 each to 3 million workers on May Day

LUCKNOW: On the international workers day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has gifted the second instalment of Rs 1000 each to around 30 lakh labourers and workers in the state to beat the lockdown and their unemployment phase.
The announcement was made by the CM during his meeting with Team 11 here on Friday.
On the May Day, the CM also wished the workers and hoped that his government will provide all benefits to the workers during this pandemic.
Mr Adityanath also announced that government has also ordered distribution of food grains to around 4 crore ration cards which will cover around 18 crore population of the state from today.
“Rs 1000 would be again given to the 30 lakh workers and labourers in May. These workers were provided around Rs 300 crore in April under this scheme ,” officials here on Friday said .
In April, the state government had provided Rs 1000 through DBT to 16.08 lakh construction workers, 7.61 lakh urban daily wage workers and 5.51 lakh rural daily wage worker besides clearing the dues of Rs 611 crore of the 27.15 lakh MGNREGA workers.
On Friday evening, the CM will hold a video conferencing with labourers and workers this evening to know about their well being and will wish them on May Day.
The CM also launched the ration card portability, “One Card , One Nation ” scheme in the state and ordered for supply of food grains to the beneficiaries for the month of May from today.
“In April the ration card holders got foodgrains twice , in the first half from the state government and in the second half from Centre,” the officials said. (AGENCIES)
