Lucknow, Jan 19:
Delhi Waveriders were held to a 1-1 draw by Uttar Pradesh Wizards in their first away match of the Hockey India League here today.
Despite the draw, the Waveriders, who had won their first two encounters at home against Jaypee Punjab Warriors and Mumbai Magicians, remain at the top spot in the league standings with 12 points from three encounters.
Contrary to the final result, the Waveriders came out all guns blazing in the first quarter and penetrated the opposition’s striking circle at will. Their efforts bore fruit in the sixth minute when Kiwi Simon Child scored with a reverse hit. (PTI)
