UDHAMPUR, Aug 29: Latti Development Committee (LDC) has demanded up-gradation of PHC at Tehsil headquarters to the CHC level and posting of adequate Medical staff there.
Members of the LDC in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Kasturi Lal Gupta (Sarpanch-Latti), said that while Government has given Sub District Hospitals and Community Health Centres at Tehsil Headquarters, the only PHC catering to the need of over 50,000 population of entire Dudu Sub Division could not be upgraded till date. He said it was popular demand of the people of this area to upgrade this hospital to the CHC level.
The LDC chairman requested the Commissioner Secretary Health, Bhupinder Kumar to fill up all the vacant posts of doctors and other para-medical staff at this hospital. He extended gratitude to the Commissioner Secretary for providing an MBBS doctor recently to this hospital besides providing necessary medical equipment and allied items at this PHC.
He pointed out that Dudu-Latti is the remotest area of district Udhampur and deserve special attention as it is full of road accidents, natural disasters, medical emergencies. It is a popular demand of the local public for upgrading PHC Latti to CHC level and appointment of more staff. He maintained that Secretary H&ME was really working hard to strengthen the rural health care services and implementation of Centrally sponsored schemes to the poor and needy public of UT. He said this PHC has plenty of oxygen cylinders, oxygen concentrators, ECG, X -ray machine now with his intervention.
The LDC members further appealed the Commissioner /Secretary to make GMC Udhampur early operationalisation where referral patients from remote Dudu area can be treated inspite of GMC Jammu, which will curtail the financial burden on the poor people.
