Uphold sanctity of House: Malhotra to Legislators

SRINAGAR, June 27: Chairman Legislative Council, Amrit Malhotra has asked the heads of the Committees, constituted for the year 2013-2014, to chalk-out meeting calendar in advance in consultations with the concerned members to ensure their regular presence.
Malhotra was chairing an introductory meeting of the nominated Chairmen of different committees of the Legislative Council constituted for current financial year.
Legislators Najeeb Suhrwardhy, Bashir Ahmad Magray, Jugal Kishore, Subhash Chander Gupta, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Narboo  Gialchen, Dharambir Singh Oberoi besides Additional Secretary, Legislative Council, Mohammad Maqbool were present on the occasion.
Emphasizing on upholding the sanctity and dignity of the House, the Chairman asked the heads of the committees to make sure that purpose of framing these Committees is achieved. He said that nominated Chairmen of Committees have important role in disposing of issues of public interest and asked them to hold the meetings at both the capital cities of the state and submit their reports to the Chairman, LC for further action.
Malhotra asked the heads of the committees to hold separate meetings with the members of the concerned committees before chalking out the meeting calendar so that the meeting dates are fixed as per convenience of the members.
Chairman instructed concerned officers of the Council Secretariat to extend full cooperation to the members and make all the records and other relevant documents available to them for reaching a meaningful conclusion. He asked them to utilize all means of communication including wireless services to inform the members about the dates and venues of the meetings.
Legislators, present on the occasion also put-forth suggestions for making the Committees more effective and result oriented. They shared their experience with the Chairman and assured to maintain credibility of the House.
