JAMMU, Feb 21: Usha Vohra, First Lady, inaugurated a 4-day painting exhibition by Insha Manzoor, a final year student of Bachelor of Visual Arts, at Kala Kendra, here today.
In all, 23 paintings on varied themes drawn by this young artist of the State are on display at the exhibition which will remain open for public viewing from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily upto February 24, 2013.
The First Lady went around the exhibition and evinced keen interest in the work of this young painter. She enquired from Insha from where she got the ideas behind her various paintings and complimented her for the high quality of her artistic creations. As a token of appreciation of her artistic work, the First Lady presented Rs. 25,000 to the young artist and wished her a bright future ahead.
Among those present on the occasion were Savita Bakshi, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, a good number of art lovers, intellectuals, prominent citizens and students.
