Harsha Kakar The uprising in Ukraine in 2013-14 which overthrew the pro-Russian, Yanukovych Government, was supported by the west. It resulted in Russia annexing Crimea and declaration of independence by predominantly Russian speaking provinces of Eastern Ukraine.
