USTA demands withdrawal of New Pension Scheme, NEP

KATHUA, Apr 17: Rajeev Kumar and Roop Chand provincial and district presidents respectively of J&K United School Teachers Association (USTA) while highlighting the long pending issues of the teachers demanded withdrawal of New Pension Scheme and restoration of Old Pension Scheme, and repealing of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 which leads to centralisation and corporatization of education.
Talking to reporters here today they demanded implementation of norm-based transfer policy, transfer after two years from hard areas, transfer policy for all regularised ReT teachers especially married female, Filling up of existing vacant posts of masters, headmasters, lecturers and Fourth Class by DPC and teachers by new appointments, regularisation of all in charge lecturers, headmasters, ZEOs, and other officers.
They also demanded release of Charge Allowance on promotion instead of assigning look after charge, providing of laptops, computer teachers and extra budget to carry out day to day activities in schools, starting of pre-primary classes by providing required trained teachers and other infrastructure, withdrawal of teachers from all type of non-academic duties, decentralization of transfer and other powers to subordinate officers.
Rajeev Kumar expressed deep concern over the snatching of hard-earned rights of working class. He pleaded to repeal National Education Policy which leads to centralisation, corporatisation and privatisation of education. It will further deteriorate public education system and will exclude socially and economically deprived section of the society from the ambit of education. He further asserted that practice of engaging teachers at the cost of poor students studies be stopped forthwith. While speaking Roop Chand expressed his concern over the unwanted delay in DPC of teachers to masters and masters to headmasters due to which large number of schools are running headless for last many years.
USTA appealed the authorities to concede the demands at an earliest otherwise teaching community will be compelled to resort to further agitation in near future.
Others who were present in the press conference included Kishori Lal, Sham Lal, Ravinder Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Raj Kumar, Zulfkar, Parshant Khajuria, Satish Singh, Bali Muhammed, Mani Ram and Thudu Singh etc.
