JAMMU, Aug 20: All J&K UT Seniors and Juniors Ranking cum Selection Badminton tournament was inaugurated by Dr OD Sharma, vice-president Badminton Association of India and Chairman Badminton Association of J&K at Indoor Sports Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
About more than 260 players are participating in the championship. The team of J&K UT will be selected as per best performance of players in the tournament of North Zone Inter State Badminton Championships-2022 which is being held in September- 2022 at Jammu.
Dr OD Sharma said that the Association is working in the field to keep the youth away from drugs. Col. DV Sharma, vice president, Balbir Singh Jamwal, general secretary, Dushyant Sharma, Anil Gurkha, Sunil Gurkha and Sukhdev Singh were present during the inaugural ceremony.
The matches were officiated by Rahul Sharma, chief referee of the tournament Vikram Saini, SAI, Badminton coach and Divum Gupta, Sports Council Badminton coach.
In Boys section under-19, Aprit Yadav trounced Lakshdeep, Shivam Ishar beat Abhinav Bandral, Harsh Sharma beat Param, Shivansh defeated Raghav, Yashverdan Singh defeated Tanish Dogra, Sudanshu Rajwal trounced Manik Atari, Bhavdeep Singh beat Abhishek Abrol, Shashant got better of Akshar Vishisht, Shourya Jasrotia beat Sahard, Nikhlesh trounced Danish Khan, Abhijeet Bandral defeated Raghav Suri, Anurag Singh trounced Sumit, Vansh beat Nazeef-ul-Rehman, Raghav Magotra trounced Kishna, Thakur Aneesh beat Vansh Chuhan, Vansh Jandyal beat Kanhya Sudan, Sharvan got better of Shaksham, Satyam Tondon defeated Pranav Bhatti, Gopesh Singh trounced Akul, Harihar Sharma beat Ranjat Singh and Raghav Sharma defeated Kashav Sharma.
In Men section, Raghav lost to Sangam, Danish Gupta beat Sahil Kumar, Manik Atri trounced Akshy Bheal, Rahul Chawariya lost to Satyam Tondon, Adarsh Jamuria beat Gourav Singh, wherein Boys section under-19, Sehdev Singh lost to Arbit Yadav, Shivim Isher beat Harsh Sharma, Shivansh trounced Yashvardan Singh, Chetanya Manhas lost to Bhavdeep Singh and Shashank lost to Neelkanth.
