JAMMU, Mar 30: Two day UT level Fencing Championship, organised byJ&K Amateur Fencing Association, inaugurated by Ashok Singh, Divisional Sports Officer (J) as chief guest, here today.
MJ Sharma presided over the function, while addressing the gathering he highlighted the achievements of J&K Fencing for the last 25 years. Shotu Lal Sharma, Fencing Instructor, JK Sports council welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries.
The chief guest said that Fencing is one of the prominent and medal winning sports which brought laurels to J&K by winning many medals at National and International events. The Divisional Sports Officer was accompanied by Satish Gupta, Manager Indoor Sports Complex and other senior officials of the Sports Council.
More than 300 fencers (boys and girls) from different districts of UT of J&K participated.
Rashid Ahmed Choudhary, Convener Adhoc Committee of J&K Amateur Fencing Association thanked Nuzhat Gul, Secretary JK Sports Council for providing world class infrastructure and equipment. Shotu Lal Sharma is the organizing secretary, while Pritam Singh Slathia is the Competition Director for the championship.
In sabre girls (U-20) individual, Mehrish and Saiqa won gold and silver, while bronze medal was shared by Nancy and Shaishta, whereas in senior epee individual, gold and silver were secured by Ajay Kumar and Vishal, while bronze was shared by Ranveer and in girls sabre (U-12) individual, gold and silver were won by Shrija and Eknoor, while Harnoor and Mahi Jamwal shared bronze, besides in sabre girls (U-17) individual, Chavi and Ananya clinched gold and silver, while bronze was shared by Akshita and Harleen.
In foil boys (U-17) individual, gold and silver were bagged by Rakshit and Chanakye, while bronze was shared by Rashid and Shresth, whereas in sabre boys (U-17) team, Jammu district teams won gold and silver, while bronze was shared by Samba and Anantnag.
In epee boys (U-20) individual, gold and silver were won by Aditya and Mubashir, while bronze was shared by Aryan and Vansh.
