*Jammu emerges overall Champion in Gymnastics

JAMMU, Mar 20: Jammu emerged overall Champion, while Kathua district stood 1st runner-up and Srinagar remained 2nd runner-up in the UT level Gymnastics Championship, organized at Gymnastics Academy, MA Stadium, here today.
SSP Chandan Kohli was the chief guest and he distributed prizes among winners along with guests of the closing ceremony including Rajeev Sharma-Member Sports Council, Dushyant Sharma-secretary J&K Olympic Association, Sheikh Riyaz Ahmad- Administrative Officer Sports Council, Sunil Kesar, DySP North and Sunil Sharma, Archery Association of J&K.
In under-8 girl’s category, Meera Chandan-1st, Goonj Vaid- 2nd and Ritaj Shafiq-3rd, in under-10 (Floor Exercise), Anoobuti Gupta- 1st, Jasmeh Kour- 2nd and Shivanshi Gupta-3rd, in balancing beam: Anoobuti Gupta-1st, Ridhi Jai-2nd and Inaya & Ridhima-3rd.
Artistic Girls under 12 yrs Rivika 1st , Shehmaj (Kathua 2nd & )Sidhani Chettri 3rd position, in artistic girls under 14, Jeevanotsarg Sharma-1st, Parul Rana- 2nd and Guransh Kour-3rd. in artistic U/17, Chandni- 1st, Daisy-2nd and Parwarish-3rd.
In U/ 10 girl’s (Rhythmic): free hand event, Shagun-1st, Sanvi-2nd and Pallavi-3rd, in ball Aziza-1st, Aliya-2nd and Asvi-3rd, in ribbon: Avanya-1st, Manya-2nd and Shaina-3rd, in all round: Shagun-1st, Saanvi-2nd and Pallavi-3rd.
In rhythmic sub junior girls, hoop event: Triza Bilal-1st, Sharnya-2nd & Prachi Sharma-3rd, in hoop: Prachi Sharma-1st, Triza-2nd and Kanwaldeep-3rd , in clubs: Triza-1st, Prachi-2nd & Hargun-3rd, in ribbon: Prachi-1st, Triza-2nd & Advaita Chaudhary-3rd, in all round best: Prachi Sharma-1st, Triza Bilal-2nd and Kanwaldeep- 3rd.
In rhythmic (Jr. girls) in all round best event: Vaibhavi Sharma-1st (2 Gold & 2 Silver), Jagriti Thakur-2nd (2 Gold & 2 Silver) and Shiddani- 3rd (4 Bronze), in rhythmic (Senior) in hoop: Stuti Gupta-1st, Simran Kaur- 2nd & Himani Gupta-3rd, in ball: Simran Kaur-1st, Viomini Dogra-2nd and Sneha Dewan-3rd, in blubs: Himani Gupta-1st, Simran Kour 2nd and Viomini Dogra-3rd, in ribbon: Sneha Dewan 1st, Stuti Gupta 2nd and Himani Gupta 3rd and in all round: Stuti Gupta-1st, Simran Kour-2nd and Sneha Dewan-3rd.

In aerobics (girls U/14): Pranavi Sharma 1st, Akashara 2nd and Bharati-3rd, in U/17, Riya Sharma-1st, Mannat-2nd and Peehu Mahajan-3rd, in senior, Yaadavi Mahajan-1st and Sudipti Khana-2nd. Stuti Gupta (Rhythmic Gymnastics) Gourav Chettri (Aerobics) and Badal Kumar (Artistic) were declared best players.
The competitions were officiated by qualified judges Manisha Gupta, Mitali, Manvinder Singh, Inderdeep Singh, Mayank Jain, Kamal Singh, Honey Mehra, Sahil Sahi, Natasha Sharma and Ajit Kumar under the supervision of Krupali Singh, Arjuna Awardee.
The championship was conducted by Gymnastics Association of J&K & under the aegis of Gymnastics Federation of India and J&K Olympic Association and sponsored by J&K Sports Council.
President Kiran Wattal lauded the effort of Secretary Sport Council Nuzhat Gul and Government for creating a world level Gymnastics Academy at Jammu. The vote of thanks was delivered by general secretary of the Association Ravinder Singh.
