REASI, Oct 24: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Reasi concluded the UT Level Inter-District Archery Competition for All Age Group (AAG) girls at the SMVD Sports Complex, Katra. Teams from various districts across Jammu and Kashmir, including Srinagar, Doda, Jammu, Kathua, and Reasi, participated in this event, held in collaboration with the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB).
The closing ceremony featured Sanjeev Kotwal, Nodal Officer of SMVD Sports Complex Katra, as the chief guest, while Abhilasha Choudhary, Archery Coach at the complex, was the guest of honour. Kotwal praised the young archers for their dedication and enthusiasm, urging them to continue pursuing excellence in their sport.
The competition showcased impressive performances, with Jammu dominating the results. In the U-14 Indian category, Kalyani Sharma from Jammu secured first place, followed by Manayathya Sharma from Kathua and Japleen Kour from Jammu. In the U-14 Recurve category, Feriha from Jammu took the top spot. In U-17, Manikarnika Sharma (Jammu) claimed first spot, with Smriti Sharma (Jammu) and Antra Rani (Jammu) finishing second and third, respectively. Manya Sharma (Jammu) won the U17 Recurve event. The U-17 Compound category saw Anamika Sharma (Reasi) in first place, followed by Bhumi and Anvesha Sharma from Kathua. In U-19, Sonia Mottan (Jammu) emerged as the winner. The matches were officiated under the supervision of Kuldeep Kumar, with Jammu clinching the overall champion trophy and Kathua securing the runners-up position.
