UT level Open Weightlifting C’ship concludes

JAMMU, Apr 17: First UT level Open Weightlifting Championship, organised by District Jammu Weightlifting Association under the aegis of J&K Weightlifting Association, concluded at Indoor Sports Complex Bhagwati Nagar, here today.
About 100 participants in different weight categories participated in the two days event, organized in collaboration with J&K Sports Council to develop sports culture among the weightlifters.
Rajeev Sharma-president Hockey J&K was the chief guest who distributed medals as well as certificates among the winners. Daljit Singh was the guest of honour.
Earlier, the welcome address was presented by Ravi Singh, vice president of the Association in presence of Harbajan Singh (President of the Association), whereas Yudhvir Singh presented the vote of thanks.
In men 55 kg junior category, 1st, 2nd and 3rd places were secured by Jasmeet Magotra, Krish Saini and Aditya respectively, while in senior, Ravi Shankar and Anil Kumar won first two places and in 61kg junior, 1st and 2nd places were clinched by Vardesh Koushal and Guru Partap, whereas in senior category, Parshant Sharma and Sourab Sharma stood 1st and 2nd respectively.
In 67 kg junior, Nirbhay Partap Singh, Ayush Amgotra and Sanatan Choudhary stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, while in senior category Naman Mahajan and Manav Sharma remained 1st and 2nd and in 73 kg junior, first two places were won by Narinder Lalotra and Kartik Kumar, whereas in senior, top three places were clinched by Manpreet Singh, Rahul Chopra and Akshay Dayal respectively, while in 81 kg junior, Jatin Jamwal, Pankaj Kumar and Paras Gupta stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively and in senior category, Rishab Dogra, Varun Changotra and Rajat Katal won first three places respectively.
In 89 kg junior, Gokul Takayia and Aditya Sambyal stood 1st and 2nd, while in senior, top three places were won by Manjeet Singh, Mohd Zaffer and Abhishek Kumar and in 96 kg junior, Nirmal Singh and Karan Kumar Sahu remained 1st and 2nd respectively, besides in senior, Namandeep Singh Narania, Naresh Kumar and Arun Raj Bhagat stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd, whereas 102 kg Junior, Misem Choudhary stood 1st and in senior Himanshu Sharma and Nitin Kumar won first two places.
In 109 kg junior, Jatin Mehra remained 1st, while in senior Archit Mahajan remained 1st and in plus 109 kg, Saksham Singh and Pushpinder Singh stood 1st in both junior and senior category.
In women 49 kg, top two places were secured by Monika Devi and Yateksha Rao respectively, while in 55 kg, Ritika and Dimple stood 1st and 2nd and in 59 kg, first two places were won by Laxmi Devi and Palak Devi besides in 64 kg, Palak Manhas and Akam Kour remained 1st and 2nd respectively and in 87 kg, Sharon James and Kripa won 1st and 2nd places, whereas in plus 87 kg, first two places were clinched by Subi Shivgotra and Priyam Sharma respectively.
