JAMMU, Dec 10: The opening ceremony of 29th Men Free Style, Greco Roman Style and 15th Women UT level Wrestling Championship was held at the Wrestling Hall of University of Jammu, here today.
The championship is organised by Wrestling Association of J&K in collaboration with Jammu University under the auspices of Wrestling Federation of India, J&K Sports Council and J&K Olympic Association.
Dushyant Sharma former international wrestler and SSP was the chief guest on the occasion, while Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, president J&K Rifle Association was the guest of honour along with prominent persons including Vasudev Sharma (president) Vijay Pehlwan, Abdul Ahmad Shah, Jai Bharat, Om Parkash (Director Competition) and others.
A total of 170 wrestlers from different districts are participating in the championship.
The chief guest encouraged the participants and gave his best wishes. He also lauded the role of Association for giving the opportunity to budding wrestlers by holding the championship. The guest of honour also addressed a gathering.
In the championship the first round of the bouts was completed, wherein the women wrestlers also showed their wrestling skills.
The next round of the championship will start tomorrow.
